Business Support Team

In order to proactively assist individuals or organizations as they seek to comply with the various municipal codes and regulations applicDowntownable to their business start-up or expansion, the City of Hillsdale is pleased to announce the establishment of the Business Support Team (BST).

Business Support Team Members

As the business prospects main point of contact and BST leader, the Economic Development Director will assemble a team from the appropriate City departments based upon the specific requirements or compliance issues of a planned project.

When necessary, the BST will coordinate the City's efforts with other local, state, or federal resources that would be beneficial to successful project implementation.  This could include collaboration with other governmental units, workforce development or economic development organizations, financial institutions, realtors and builders/developers.

Business Support Team Process

Once a project has been identified, the BST will assemble a project implementation guide for the business prospect containing information relevant to the project such as zoning, permitting requirements, incentive programs, etc.  This document will serve to direct the activities of the BST and its' partners towards the timely and efficient completion of the project.

While it is expected that referrals to the BST will routinely come from City departments, the Economic Development Director will seek to promote the BST within the community to existing business owners, as well as builders/developers, property owners, financial institutions and realtors, and other entities who often have knowledge of a potential project prior to the City being contacted by the business prospect.

If you, or someone you know, is planning to start or expand a business in the City of Hillsdale and would like to take advantage of the BST process, contact the Economic Development department at (517) 437-6479 or econdev@cityofhillsdale.org.
