Established in 1839 and chartered in 1869, the City of Hillsdale is located in the rolling, fertile hills of South Central Michigan, bordering Indiana and Ohio. A community of approximately 8,000 residents, it is the county seat of Hillsdale County and home to nationally-recognized Hillsdale College as well as Hillsdale Hospital a private, independent, non-profit institution and the only acute care hospital in Hillsdale County.
In the late 1800s, Hillsdale was a booming railroad town. Dozens of beautiful Victorian homes, many of which are still occupied as private residences, line our streets. The historic Downtown has retained much of its charm and remains the hub of business and community activity. The Hillsdale Manufacturing and Technology Park houses mostly locally-owned, privately held manufacturing companies.
Beyond the neighborhoods and bustle of the City center, one can enjoy abundant recreational opportunities. Whether spending the day boating or fishing on Lake Baw Beese, soaking in the sun at Sandy Beach, walking or biking the Baw Beese Trail, or enjoying the serenity of Mrs. Stock's Park, the City is full of the natural beauty for which the area is well known.
