City of Hillsdale TIFA Chooses Developer

At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 14th, the City of Hillsdale Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) approved a development proposal from Trevathan's Sweep and Sew Shop, LLC for the property located at 45 & 47 N. Broad Street. The multiphase development project will allow for the expansion of the current showroom, vacuum and sewing machine repair shop, and classroom instruction space that are all currently housed at 47 N. Broad Street. With the increased space, Trevathan's Sweep and Sew, LLC will be able to expand their product offerings with the addition of sewing machine cabinets, a more extensive array of high quality fabrics and sewing notions, and a computerized long arm quilting machine. Rehabilitation of the buildings will include repair and restoration of the brick façade and masonry walls, window replacement, and new awnings. In addition to the interior improvements proposed for the retail spaces, improvements and upgrades to the second floor residential units will be completed as well. Pending TIFA approval of the written development agreement, the project is expected to begin in summer of 2009.
